Squid is a caching proxy for the Web supporting HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and more. It reduces bandwidth and improves response times by caching and reusing frequently-requested web pages. Squid has extensive access controls and makes a great server accelerator. Squid 3.4 represents a new feature release above 3.3. The most important of these new features are: * Helper protocol extensions * SSL Server Certificate Validator * Store-ID * TPROXY Support for OpenBSD 5.1+ and FreeBSD 9+ * Transaction Annotations * Multicast DNS Most user-facing changes are reflected in squid.conf (see below). First STABLE release Date: 08 Dec 2013
