Kalva is a lightweight videoapplication for the KDE Desktop. It uses MPlayer and MEncoder to do the real work. It schedules via atd (movies) and crond (series). Kalva's main goal is to be quite simple to setup and easy to use. But apart from that it provides quite some useful features.
