This project is a central place for audio, video and image libraries for parsing multimedia data (also known as codecs), tags or containers. It is also a place for multimedia data processing libraries. Command line utilities without GUI toolkit dependencies can be placed into this project as well. Please don't place end-user GUI based applications here, put them into multimedia:apps. Base your project on packages in this project instead. This project also serves as development project for packages around this topic in the openSUSE:Factory distribution. VLC media player is a multimedia player for many audio and video files and formats (such as MPEG, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.
